By the time we got to our first spot, it was about 9:00am. From the surface, the water did not look extremely clear, but you could make out the outlines of some rocks on the bottom, so we decided to jump in and check it out first hand. Unfortunately it didn't get any better from this new perspective. The water was quite silty and in only about 25 feet of water, it was difficult to see the bottom clearly. We moved on...

We headed further south along the coast of Key Biscayne until the water started to clear up some. It didn't take long. Only about 2-3 miles away from where we first jumped in, the water turned a beautiful shade of blue and you could see the bottom clearly from the boat. Once again we jumped in. Beautiful bottom, lots of broken coral with crevices and holes for fish to hide in. Unfortunately, not a lot of fish were taking advantage of these beautiful refuges. We got our first hog of the day and the mutton that I am holding here.

We ended up with a few hogs, a couple of muttons, a red grouper  and a nice dog snapper.  As we moved around we found more of the same, good looking fish places, but not a lot of fish. We don't scout very much in this area so its to be expected that we would have a little trouble hitting the spots right off. Overall, it was still a nice day on the boat free diving and shooting fish. I'll take it over work anyday!
